UCPN (Maoist) to have 399-member CC
KATHMANDU: Giving a sense of preparations for upcoming CA elections and engage most of its leaders, the UCPN (Maoist) has formed a 399-member jumbo central committee (CC).
However, the party spokesperson Agni Sapkota said that the size of the CC was comparatively larger as the party has to incorporate all marginalized societies, classes, communities and all in the party to ensure their representation.
A meeting of the CC held Monday at the party headquarters decided to extend the size to 399, making 248 alternative CC members.
The seventh general convention of the UCPN (Maoist) held last month in Hetauda had endorsed a proposal floated by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda for appointing 98 leaders in the CC.
Likewise, Sapkota also said that there was no dispute in the party from the Madhes to welcome former UML politburo member Ram Chandra Jha.
Meanwhile, famous singer and former lawmaker who was associated with the CPN-Maoist after the party split also joined the UCPN (Maoist) today.
Issuing a press statement, Pakhrin said he returned ´home´ as the UCPN (Maoist) was the mainstream of the Nepal´s communist movement.
