Nepal’s interim election council unhappy with political parties’ move
KATHMANDU: The cabinet meeting of Nepal’s government today has urged one and all to extend their support for holding the CA polls in stipulated timeframe, third week of June.
The meeting decided to form a three-member committee to hold discussions and consult with all political parties for their support to hold the CA polls, according to Communications Minister Madhav Poudel.
Minister for Home Madhav Ghimire; Minister for Federal Affairs, Bidyadhar Mallik and Minister for Communications Madhav Poudel are the members of the committee.
The government has also taken exception to some activities of some political parties, especially that of the CPN-Maoist for disrupting the biometric voters’ collection provision.
The meeting also appointed Bimal Gautam of Baglung as Press Advisor of Chairman Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi.
The cabinet decided to promote some top level civil servants.
Minister Poudel said the meeting also decided to promote nine colonels of the Nepal Army to the post of Brigadier Generals as well as two Brigadier Generals to the post of Major Generals while two Major Generals and six Brigadier Generals were transferred.
The government also promoted two second-class officers of various services to the first-class officers. The government has also decided to add 200 more beds by upgrading the Western Regional Hospital. Now the hospital has 300 beds.
The meeting also decided to provide additional financial assistance on the recommendation of the Medical Board to different civil servants suffering from serious diseases and undergoing treatment.
Similarly, the meeting approved the resignation tendered by the Chairman of Nepal Electricity Authority Leela Mani Poudyal. Poudyal is serving as the Chief Secretary of the government of Nepal.
