Before wrapping up his Nepal visit, former US Prez Carter says Nepalis’ decision is final

KATHMANDU: Founder of the ‘The Carter Center’ and ex President of the USA Jimmy Carter has said that Nepalese people are strong enough to make their decisions on their country.

Organizing a press conference before wrapping up his four-day visit to Nepal, Carter on Monday said Nepalis are capable of taking decisions on their own and their decision would be the most authentic.

Carter’s such statement comes at a time when a section of analysts view his Nepal visit as a tool to influence upcoming CA elections while on the other hand some have viewed his visit as the step to give moral boosts to the Christianity.

He said during his meeting with top leaders Carter suggested to conduct the CA polls in the slated timeframe but he did not elaborate further about it.

Carter suggested that Nepal should hold elections between mid-November to mid-December instead of monsoon season but the decision to be taken by Nepalis would be the final one.

Carter had held talks with the President, the Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers and top leaders of the four parties and others. The former US President Carter left for Myanmar after concluding his Nepal visit.
