Lightning claims three in Doti, Kailali

DHAGADHI: Three people have died after being struck by the thunderbolts coupled with heavy wind and rainfall Saturday night in Doti and Kailali districts in the far-west.

Tika Devi Chaudhary, 25, died due to a lightning strike that struck the house of Sosuram Chaudhary at Bauniya VDC-2, Mainapokhari in mid-part of Kailali last night, confirmed the District Police Office, Kailali.

Sosuram and his 13-year-old son, who lost consciousness due to lightning strike are undergoing treatment in a local health clinic.

Likewise, a lightning that occurred at Ghanteswor VDC-3, Ghoradi village in the western belt of Doti killed Tarasi Malla, 60, and Ramkali Dangi, 55, said Man bahadur Malla, a local teacher.

Mall and Dangi, who were critically injured and fell unconscious, breathed their last on the way to hospital.
