NC to backtrack from Karki’s appointment as the CIAA head

KATHMANDU: As the Constitutional Council is all set to appoint Lok Man Singh as head of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) based on High-Level Political Committee (HLPC), Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said his party would not accept Karki as the chief of the CIAA. “Karki is a disputed figure.

“NC is not positive in his appointment,” Koirala said at a press meet this morning in Kapilbastu. He also said that the country would fall into further crisis if the controversial figures were appointed in the major posts.

Saying that a large number of public sentiment was against Karki’s appointment, Koirala said the NC cannot go against the public sentiment.

Koirala is also the coordinator of the HLPC.
