Karki’s name as the CIAA head irks student unions

KATHMANDU: Thirteen students union have staged protests in front of the government campuses in the capital city this morning against the Constitutional Council’s decision to recommend Lokman Singh Karki’s name as the chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

Earlier, a meeting of the leaders of the student unions had decided to stage protests nationwide against Karki’s recommendation.

Treasurer of All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary Khageshwor KC said that the student unions are scheduled to submit a memorandum to the President this afternoon.

Similarly, the students would organize a torch rally on Wednesday.

KC said they have organized a general shut down in the valley on Thursday.
