Parties should prepare conducive environment for polls: Regmi

Nepal New Prime Minister

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Interim Election Council, Khilaraj Regmi has claimed that political parties were responsible to create conducive environment for holding CA elections.

Speaking at the all political party meeting in Singhadurbar on Friday, Regmi expressed such statement stating that the government can only act as facilitator to hold CA elections by ensuring security.

He said that it was fruitless to comment on the government and election commission’s role in holding CA elections and added that EC’s job was only to ensure impartial elections and that the government’s job was to provide security to do so.

He warned that inability to hold CA elections would endanger republicanism and called political parties to ensure CA elections at the earliest.
