BIRGUNJ: Normal life in southern plains of the country is crippled from early this morning due to a shutdown enforced by Sadbhavana Party putting forth different 10-point demand.
The party has demanded immediate announcement of the CA polls date. The hardest hit from the general strike are people belonging to Birgunj and surrounding areas. With the long-route and short-route vehicles brought to a complete standstill, passengers have to suffer much being stranded on the way to their destination.
However, the shutdown has no effect in schools operation there. ‘We are firm to our belief that the schools are peace zone so we allow schools to operate their classes smoothly’, said Nijamuddin Samani, central member the party.
The general strike has also adversely affected local industries in Birgunj and adjoining area.
