Chairman of Rashtriya Prajatantra Party Pashupati Shumsher Rana

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati Shumsher Rana has said that present chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa would take the charge of party’s captainship.

The unity general convention of the RPP and RJP, the parties mostly dominated by former royalists, is scheduled to begin on Friday in the capital.

At an interaction in Reporters Club today, Rana also said that the leaders would take the charge of chairmanship turn by turn in every year.

However, final decision has not been taken regarding the party chairmanship from the next year.

“Thapa will be chairman of the party and we will take part in the CA elections in Thapa’s leadership,” Rana said.

He also revealed that the party would be run based on collective leadership and a 13-member presidium would be formed to that end.

Rana, Thapa, Lokendra Bahadur Chand, Prakash Chandra Lohani among others would be included in the presidium.

The interaction was presided over by Club’s Chairman Rishi Dhamala.

On the occasion, Rana said that the party would not turn back from the agenda of republic and secularism. “There is no point to turn back from democratic republic. We are not in favour of a single religion,” Rana said.

He also said that a large number of invitees from within the country and abroad are participating in the general convention.
