Regmi, Prachanda discuss nitty-gritty of CA polls
KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda held talks on nitty-gritty of the upcoming CA polls and participation of dissenting political parties.
Threshold of minimum votes to ensure parties’ representation in the CA under the proportional electoral system, number of constituencies, and the issues to be included in the polls related ordinance are some of the major bone of contention among the parties.
The two held discussions for declaring the date for CA election by resolving the disputed issues, hold talks with the agitating political parties and move ahead for the election process for giving an outlet to the existing political impasse, said Chairman Dahal´s aide Shiva Khakurel.
The High Level Political Committee meeting has handed over the responsibilities to coordinate and consult with the dissenting political parties to Chairman of the CPN (UML) and coordinator of the Committee, Jhalanath Khanal.
