Octogenarian Surya Bahadur elected chair of RPP
KATHMANDU: The unity convention of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) elected Surya Bahadur Thapa as chairman after the party’s jamboree directed to make a single person to take the party’s command.
Earlier, the party had decided to form a presidium of Thapa, Lokendra Bahadur Chand, Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani on a rotational basis.
Rana had proposed the name of Thapa to lead the unified party.
However, a presidium would be made to take crucial decisions including that of leadership change.
