The nightmare of heavy rainfall on Thursday evening in capital

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu valley received at least 107mm of rainfall on Thursday evening throwing the normal life including city traffic out of gear for almost five hours.

Heavy rainfall in and around the capital city even disrupted the regular flights at Tribhuvan International Airport for half an hour due to poor visibility at the TIA.

One domestic and seven international flights were affected due to poor visibility, officials told.

Most of the roads in the capital are waterlogged due to the heavy downpour. Pedestrians were left stranded in the roads while the traffic system of the valley was badly crippled due to inundated road sections and traffic jam.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s national news agency was inundated due to the flood in Tukucha river.
