High level political committee makes no headway in electoral laws

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the high-level political committee held today also failed today as the leaders were adamant to change their partisan interests.

After the parties’ failure to take a decision, the HLPC is expected to give responsibility to the government to take a decision to this regard, UML leader Raghuji Panta confirmed.

The provision of minimum one percent threshold and eligibility of candidates contesting the CA poll are major issues that are not resolved yet.

The government is also expected to conduct the CA election in the previous electoral laws as demanded by the UCPN (Maoist) and Madhes based political parties.

Top leaders of major four political forces were present at the meeting held at the office of the Secretariat of Army Integration Special Committee, New Baneshwor.
