I didn’t take money from Unity International: Former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey
KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) politburo member and former finance minister Surendra Pandey has claimed that a news coverage regarding his involvement in accepting Rs 50 from Unity International was plotted to damage his political character.
Organizing a press conference in Reporters Club today, Pandey said the issue was raised as a conspiracy theory.
“Publishing a news story quoting a person affiliated to Unity International is ill-intentional, conspirational and aimed at tarnishing my political and public image,” he claimed.
He also questioned that how he could make an alliance for taking money from the Unity as the government had taken action against the organization when he was finance minister.
Pandey also said that he has not known Tanka Paneru and Krishna Pathak quoted in the news story.
UML’s mouth piece Budhabar Weekly had published the news stating that former finance minister Pandey accepted Rs 50 million from the Unity’s officials.
