National Karate Competition begins in capital



KATHMANDU: A National Karate Competition has begun here from today. The competition is jointly organised by the Himalaya International Model Higher Secondary School (HIMS) and Nepal Sitorio Karate Do Association.

Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the competition entitled ‘HIMS National Open Karate Competition’.

Inaugurating the competition, Dahal said his party has clear concept on development of sports and stressed on the need of proper development of sports infrastructures for guaranteeing the rights of players of every districts across the nation.

Karate coach and Chief of Mahankal Dozo, Resham Lama, said that a total of 261 players would compete in 24 categories in the competition.There will be participation of nine teams including Sitorio, Gujorio and Sotokan. Teams from Dang, Sindhupalchowk and Kaski are invited teams.

The two-day competition has been running in the organizing school at Narayantar in Jorpati, Kathmandu.
