Koirala proposes electoral cooperation with CPN Maoist
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has proposed electoral cooperation with the CPN Maoist supremo Mohan Baidya “Kiran”.
Koirala rolled out such a proposal to Baidya during a meeting between the duo on Wednesday evening at a time when the latter’s party has remained adamant on its stance of not participating in the proposed CA election slated for November 19, this year.
He said that his party was ready to cooperate and coordinate with the CPN Maoist in some electoral seats, if Baidya’s party participated in the CA election by embracing democratic norms and principles.
While ruling out any alternative to holding CA elections to end the ongoing status quo, Koirala sadi that his party was ready to discuss the demands of Baidya’s party except postponing the CA elections and dissolving the incumbent government.
While promising that the issue will be discussed in the High Level Policital Mechanism meeting slated for Thursday, Koirala urged Baidya to come up with concrete proposal and meaningful discussion.
