HLPC woes President to amend constitution for implementing 5-point deal

KATHMANDU: The High Level Political Committee (HLPC) on Saturday held talks with President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav for making new amendments to the Interim Constitution on issues necessary to implement the five point agreement reached with Upendra Yadav and his alliance.

The HLPC had earlier agreed to amend the constitution and maintain 334 seats under the proportional electoral system in the Constituent Assembly in its agreement with Yadav and his alliance on August 15.

Leaders associated with HLPC held separate talks with President Yadav and also apprised him of ongoing efforts to bring all dissenting parties into confidence.

Later party leaders also held discussions with the Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi while apprising him of their agreement reached with Upendra Yadav and their decision to implement the decision by amending the Interim Constitution.
