All party meet concludes with partial consensus on Baidya’s 4-point demand

KATHMANDU: The all-party meeting summoned by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at his residence on Friday evening concluded with after holding discussion on the four-point proposal forwarded by dissenting parties led by the CPN Maoist.

During the meeting, held at the President’s residence CPN Maoist, and termed as ‘positive’ by participants, the CPN Maoist led alliance have primarily stressed on deferring the November CA elections in March/April.

Secondly the alliance has proposed to organize a round table conference that will be participated by all political parties representing the erstwhile Constituent Assembly and finalizing the procedures of the RTC through political consensus.

Thirdly they have proposed to form a consensus government as provisioned by clause 1 of Article 38 of the Interim Constitution. They have proposed to determine its structure and leadership through political discussion.

However in the third demand, they have also agreed to transform the incumbent Khila Raj Regmi led government into a consensus government, if Regmi stepped resigned as Chief Justice.
And frothily they have proposed to make a action plan on elements of the new constitution, proportional electoral system, and road map for constitution drafting.

Though discussion remained positive on point 1 and 3, parties could not reach consensus on other demands. The meeting was adjourned for today with an understanding to meet on Sunday after holding internal party discussion on Saturday, Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel informed.
