Interim government calls on dissenting parties to join CA elections

Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU: The Interim Election government has called on all dissenting political parties to join the forthcoming Constituent Assembly elections.

A cabinet meeting on Friday afternoon in the capital made the urge without pointing to any particular political party.

“Election is a must to meetithen the democracy and the country can witness the political outlet through election only. That is why, the government expects participation of more and more parties in the Constituent Assembly election,” the appeal said.

CPN Maoist and its 33 allies have been protesting the CA elections slated for November 19 elections and had put four conditions to participate in it.

However, the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) has denied to accept those terms, which among others include dissolution of the Regmi led government and deferral of the CA elections.
