‘CA elections should ensure new statute’

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel has said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) to be formed after the elections should ensure new constitution within one year of its formation.

Pokhrel also said that the new CA should own the issues of consensus made by the erstwhile CA.

At a programme organised by Ranibari Milan Kentra and Ranibari Srijanshil Youth Club in the capital on Friday morning, the UML leader said that all issues of the constitution should be finalised even by going to the people if the CA failed to draft the constitution within a year.

Pokhrel said that social harmony could be destabilised if only the issues of ethnicity and regionalism were raised adding that social unity was the uniqueness of the Nepali society.

During the programme, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works Tulsi Prasad Sitaula urged one and all to participate in the campaign of the constitution drafting process by selecting the qualified candidates
