NC maintains erstwhile stance on core constitutional issues
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress unveiled its Constituent Assembly election manifesto on Thursday that maintained its earlier stance on core disputed issues of the new constitution to be drafted.
The manifesto unveiled at the party headquarters by Party General Secretaries duo Prakashman Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula has pledged to draft the new constitution within a year of the CA election.
The party has proposed for seven federal units based on multiple identities. The alternative NC has come up with is a federal system with 13 provinces.
The party has opted for executive prime minister and ceremonial president both elected by the parliament as the forms of the governance.
The manifesto drafted by a committee led by vice president Ram Chandra Paudel, has promised to hold local body elections within six, also expressed to curb power cut within three years by producing 5000 megawatt hydroelectricity.
The manifesto has proposed to provide the authority to name the federal units to their respective assemblies.
