EC briefs government of preparations to hold CA election
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has informed Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, Ministers and Chief Secretary about the preparations made so far for the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
Inviting the Chairman, Ministers and Chief Secretary at its office, Kantipath on Thursday, the EC informed them in detail about the election preparations, said Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety.
Chairman Regmi was accompanied to the EC by Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Poudel, Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Bidyadhar Mallik and Chief Secretary Leela Mani Poudel. They acquired information about the ballot paper printing, security situation, transportation of electoral materials to different places, election observation, ink, updated voter list among others.
Similarly, they were informed about voter education and information centre, election mobilisation centre, data centre, call centre and media centre.
Chief Election Commissioner Uprety said the government was invited to report complete information about the activities the EC did for holding the CA election. “We’ve made ample preparations for the CA election. Anyone can see it,” he added.
The carrying of election materials to 1,017 polling stations has been intensified, he said adding that the voters would receive the identity card soon. The government representatives were briefed by Chief Election Commissioner Uprety, commissioners Dr Ram Bhakta PB Thakur, Dolakh Bahadur Gurung, Ila Sharma and Secretary Nagendra Dahal.
As per the information, printing of ballot papers for the first-past-the-post category of the CA election would complete by October 31.
