Tensions escalate between both Maoists, both direct cadres to intensify

KATHMANDU: Tensions between the UCPN Maoist and its breakaway party CPN Maoist escalated as the latter continued foiling CA elections campaigns nationwide.

The UCPN Maoist has strictly directed all its party committees across the nation to retaliate against the attacks of the CPN Maoist in days ahead.

The directive issued by party spokesperson Agni Sapkota came after the CPN Maoist cadres allegedly assaulted the Sanchapal Made, UCPN Maoist’s election candidate from Taplejung-1, on Friday morning.

However, CPN Maoist has disowned the responsibility of the attack while maintaing that its cadres will excercise their right to boycott the elections.

Both parties have also slammed the government. UCPN Maoist has flayed government’s inablity to provide security to its candidate, while the CPN Maoist has slammed the security agencies for detaining its cadres, who it claimed, were excersing their constitutional rights to boycott the elections peacefully.

CPN Maoist secretary has said that his party and alliance’s protest programs will be intensified in the days ahead and also informed that the programs will focus on foiling the CA election campaign of UCPN Maoist chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal. Justifying the specific targeting, Gurung said that Dahal is mainly responsible for the present status-quo and sorry state of the nation.
