Anti Maoists pamphlet and newspaper circulated rampantly

Kathmandu: In the last CA polls, UCPN (Maoist), the then CPN (Maoist), spearheaded a smear campaign against CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal by using one of his picture. The picture, where the UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal was seen offering ‘daam’ to King Gyanendra on the latter’s Coronation Day, had featured in the posters, pamphlets and even in the hoarding boards during the election campaigning of the Maoists in the run up to the last CA polls. However, the propaganda campaign to vilify the opponent has proven to be a counterproductive to the Maoists itself this time.
In capital today, copies of the newspaper ‘Janamat Weekly’, seen seldom earlier, were rampantly circulated. The newspaper has carried out the news materials related to the violence perpetuated by the Maoists during the war along with horrific pictures of killing and death bodies. Similarly, the pamphlets have been etched in the walls of the capital city depicting UCPN (Maoist) supremo Pushpa Kamal Dahal hugging Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.  There is, however, no mention of any political parties or groups in the pamphlets. In some pamphlets, there is a picture of Indian flags fluttering in the backdrop of Prachanda’s Lazimpat residence and the election symbol of the UCPN (Maoist). The slogan in the pamphlets read:  ‘Vote for the UCPN (Maoist) to make Nepal a new Sikkim’.
