Nepal votes for second Constituent Assembly
KATHMANDU: Nepalis casted their votes for electing their Consituent Assembly representatives for the second time today. Voting centers opened up their door from 7 am to voters, who had lined up since early morning, through out the nation. Voting will remain open till 5 pm.
The Election Commission has claimed that around 12147865 voters will participate in the elections. Considering the ongoing anti-polls programs of the CPN-Maoist led dissident political parties, security forces have remained on high alert across the nation.
Political and independent representatives are contending for a total of 240 seats under Direct Election category and 335 seats under proportional election category.
Result of the elections under the Direct category is expected to be published with a week and that of the proportional category will be published within a three weeks, a press release issued by the EC said.
Election Commissioner Dolakh Bahadur Gurung said that the citizens through the nation have participated actively in casting their votes.
