UML leads nationwide vote counting, RPP-Nepal in front position in Kathmandu



Kathmandu: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal, which failed to win a single seat towards first-past-the-post (FPTP), is, however, leading the vote counts in Kathmandu under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system. Though Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) managed to grab 7 and 3 seats respectively in Kathmandu under FPTP system, RPP-Nepal has grabbed the highest votes out of the total counted votes in the capital under PR system. RPP-Nepal has secured 78,619 votes, while NC is following the pro-monarch party with 76,819 votes.  Likewise, CPN (UML) is trailing behind the NC with 60, 466 votes. UCPN (Maoist), which suffered a big blow towards the FPTP system, is in the fourth position also towards the FPTP system with 35,912 votes.
However, towards the nationwide vote counting, CPN (UML) is in the front position with 241,430 votes, closely followed by the NC with 221,728 votes. UCPN (Maoist) and RPP-Nepal are in the third (142,935 votes) and fourth position respectively.
