Govt through consensus among parties, says Koirala

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala has pledged to form the government upon the consensus of all political parties. During a meeting with the envoys of the European Union today, he said that the talks with other parties were underway to form the national consensus government. Koirala told the envoys that the efforts were underway to bring at least the UML, UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-Maoist on board the government. He told that the attempts for the consensus government would be made until last hour. He, however, clarified that the they would move ahead with democratic process if consensus eludes.
He also vowed to prepare the first draft of the constitution within six months and promulgate within a year. He told the envoys that he was determined to deliver a new constitution through holding referendum on the contentious issues if it could not be sorted out through the process in the CA.
During the meeting envoys have shown their concerns on various contemporary politics including the formation of new government, consensus attempts, constitution drafting, poll opposing parties and vote rigging allegations.
