KATHMANDU: CPN UML leader Raghuji Panta has claimed that senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal will be elected or selected as the Chairman of the party from the upcoming General Convention, slated for June/July, of the party.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal on Sunday, Panta said owing to Nepal’s victory in the general convention cannot be ruled out due to his executive capacities, dynamism and activism.

” Through election or through consensus, Nepal will be the chairman of the party. Parliamentary party leader K P Sharma Oli cannot actively participate in party affairs due to his health,” Pantha said at the program presided by the Club’s President Rishi Dhamala.

“Who has retained what posts, does not matters. He has never led the party and its only him who can give leadership to the young generation of party,” he said adding that the party leadership will be transferred to the young generation in the tenth general convention of the party.

On a different note, Pantha accused the incumbent government of being unsuccessful; he slammed it for remaining mute on issues of concern. “This government wont make a year, if it continues its sluggishness,” said Panta expressing frustration on the Prime Minister’s inability to resolve issues despite having huge support in the parliament.

He called on the Prime Minister for showing activism to ensure the drafting of the constitution in the slated time frame.
