Kosihyari urges immediate halt of conversion
KATHMANDU, MAY, 31.Visiting senior BJP leader and party Vice President Bhagat Singh Koshyari has asked Nepali leaders to stop religious conversion in Nepal that the matter is gave concern for the party in India.
Speaking at the interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club on today, Koshyari said, “It is illegal and it should be stopped.He further urges to stop such a illegal task, while referring the increasing trend of religious conversion in Nepal that is taking place since Nepal marched towards monarchy to secularism.
“In my meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Chairman of Maoist party Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other senior leaders this time and earlier too, I have categorically mentioned about the religious conversion from Hindu to other religions,” said Koshyari in an interaction program presided by the Reporters’ Club Nepal’s president Rishi Dhamala.
Some western countries are assisting Nepal in the expanses of conversion of religion but we do not, he said. When asked will BJP push here to reverse Nepal as Hindu nations, Kosihayri declined to mention so. ” Nepali people have shown faith on democracy and it is going to institutionalize because people have voted it twice. You may anything to your system here but we do no not interfere. Majority people are Hindu here so that people may guess that come changes would place here after the BJP’s victory in India which I do not subscribe much,” he clarified.
Since there is new government where Nepal and India can cooperate in harnessing hydropower and herbs and herbal products, said the former Chief Minister of Uttrakhanda said.
Kosihyari arrived here on Friday to attend a function organized by Patanjati Peeth, Nepal, to congratulate on the election of Narendra Modi to the post of Prime Minister of India. Vice President Pramanand Jha, UML Chair Jhalanath Khanal and Minister for Physical Planning and Infrastructure Bimalendra Nidhi among were present the function.
Religious conversion is illegal and a criminal office which should be stopped immediately, he said.
He did not talk much about the BJP position on Nepal aftermath of the recent election victory but said, ” BJP gives special attention to Nepal but which doesn’t mean that BJP wants to interfere in Nepal’s internal matter. We are like twins.”
BJP wants to see Nepal as a strong nation and prosperous one which is only possible after promulgation of a new democratic constitution, he added.
Nepal and India should be known as spiritual leader of the world, he sai.
