CPDCC gets six days to settle disputed issues
Kathmandu, October 10. The Constituent Assembly (CA) on Friday provided one more week to the Constitutional Political and Dialogue and Consensus Committee to settle throny issues of the constitution drafting process.
A meeting of the CA today set a new deadline of October 16 to sort out the issues of constitution drafting process. The CA Committee headed by Baburam Bhattarai was given the deadline of September 6 to forge consensus among major parties on disputed issues.
After it failed to iron out the issues, the CA had extended the deadline till September 30. The Committee was asked to submit a questionnaire of unsettled issues to the CA meeting by October 7, which it again failed.
The parties have been sharply divided over the issues of federalism, forms of governance, judiciary and electoral system.
