HSEB endorses budget of Rs 1.17 billion

Kathmandu, October 11 .  The 23rd Education Assembly of the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) led by Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav on Friday endorsed a budget of Rs 1.17 billion for the current fiscal year.

The budget is an increase of 11 percent in comparison to the previous year.

The Board held the meeting for the first time after 2012, when its total budget was Rs 989.94 million. An equal budget was allocated for the next fiscal year after the Board failed to hold the annual assembly. Though the HSEB Act 1989 makes it mandatory to hold annual assembly at least once a year, no such gathering was held for two consecutive years.

The posts of vice-chairperson and member-secretary are vacant since September 27 after Hem Kumar Mishra and Bhim Lal Gurung retired from their respective posts.

The Ministry of Education has appointed Joint-secretary Narayan Koirala as the acting member-secretary until the appointments are made.

The Assembly also appointed DAV Sushil Kedia School Chairman Anil Kedia and Lamatar School Principal Gokarna Karki as the members of the Assembly.
