Nepal defeats Singapore by 190 runs
Kathmandu, October 26. Nepal defeated Singapore by 190 runs in the ICC World Cricket League Division-III tournament on Sunday.
For the victory of Nepal, Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla scored a century . Malla hit 13 boundaries and a six scoring 114 runs from 125 balls.
Nepali inning was build mainly around his 73-run partnership first with Naresh Budayair (29) for the second wicket and 111-run partnership with Sharad Bheswakar (25) for the fourth wicket.
Basanta Regmi (21) and Sagar Pun (21) got the team’s total beyond the 250-mark with some big hitting before Nepal completed their inning on 263 for nine wickets.
Chasing the big total, Singapore were bowled for just 73 runs after 21.4 overs. Sompal Kami and Basanta Regmi took four wickets each. Amrit Bhattarai also took two wickets to his name.
Chetan Suryawanshi top-scored for Singapore with 15 runs. Nepal had lost their inaugural match against Uganda and hammered Bermuda by eight wickets in their previous two matches.
The Division III will send the top two teams to Division II which will also serve as t he qualification for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) and ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICup).
