All international flights cancelled at TIA till 5 pm



KATHMANDU, March 4: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has cancelled all the international flights until 5:00 pm today after an aircraft of the Turkish Airlines met with an accident in course of landing.However, domestic flights have been resumed a while ago.

Manager at the Office of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal at TIA, Purna Chudal, said the flights are cancelled due to the obstruction at runway as well as in view of security.

With the cancellation of the flights, some 27 international airlines have retuned their passengers to hotels.

A Turkish Airlines plane which took off from Istanbul to Kathmandu carrying 227 passengers met with an accident at the TIA this morning in course of landing.

A press release issued by the TIA Office states that Rescue and Fire Fighting Services at the TIA saved the aircraft from catching fire. The Office also clarified that no human casualty was reported in the incident.
