England knocked out by Bangladesh

England were knocked out of the World Cup in dismal fashion as Bangladesh won by 15 runs to reach the quarter-finals.

Set 276 to win, England were bowled out for 260 with nine balls unused despite Ian Bell’s 63 and Jos Buttler’s 52-ball 65, while Rubel Hossain claimed 4-53.

Bangladesh’s 275-7 in Adelaide was built on Mahmudullah’s superb 103 and 89 from Mushfiqur Rahim.

England have won only one of their five Pool A games and face a dead rubber against Afghanistan on Friday.

Bangladesh’s victory also secured Sri Lanka’s place in the last eight, alongside Pool A winners New Zealand and Australia.
