Chiranjeevi Nepal appointed NRB Governor



KATHMANDU, March 19: Economist Dr Chiranjeevi Nepal has been appointed Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

A Cabinet meeting held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday appointed Nepal to the top post of the central bank for next five years.

Earlier, he was working as the economic advisor to the Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. He holds a PhD in labour relations.

The recommendation committee headed by Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat had recommended Nepal, aling with NRB Deputy Governors Maha Prasad Adhikari and Gopal Prasad Kaphle, for the post yesterday.

Meanwhile, incumbent Governor Dr Yuvaraj Khatiwada is retiring today.
