Sushil under pressure for not contending for Party presidency

KATHMANDU, March 22: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has been facing pressure for not contending for the party’s presidency in the party’s upcoming  13th general convention. Sources claim that Koirala is facing a a pressure from within the family members.

The same source also claimed that party leader Sekhar Koirala has recommended Sushil to form a panel of youth leaders within the party and handover the party reins to the group. Shekhar’s analysis claims that Sushil will be defeated, if he goes for the party presidency again. With the new situation, Sushil is said to have expressed desires for being the nation’s President after Ram Baran Yadav.

With Sushil being pushed back for the post, the Koirala family members and others attached to it are presently grooming the ground for putting Prakash Man Singh in the line for party presidency. Along with that, the faction is also trying to keep Sushil on the PM’s post until the party concludes the AGM considering that it will benefit them.

 

Meanwhile other two strong contenders for the post – Ram Chandra Paudel and Sher Bahadur Deuba, have also intensified their campaigns for the post.
