Fake examinee caught red-handed in Kathmandu

KATHMANUD, March 23: A fake examinee was caught from Mahendra National Higher Secondary School in Baluwatar during the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam.

According to Bishnu Bahadur Dware, controller, Office of the Controller of the Examination (OCE), Sanjay Karki, 22, from Thankot in Chandragiri Municipality, was caught taking the Maths test in place of Sabin Rana Magar with symbol number 0903259 S.

Dware stated that the fake examinee was handed over to Nepal Police for further interrogation.

Karki will be liable to action whereas Magar was declared ineligible to take the exam next year as well.

“Except for a few cases of irregularities, the exam was held in a decent manner throughout the country today,” Dware said.

Dr Bal Krishna Ranjit, District Education Officer in Kathmandu, said Karki was caught red-handed after other students informed about a fake examinee appearing at the MNHSS.

He said, “Magar had convinced Karki to take the exam in his stead by offering the latter some money.”

According to him, preliminary investigation conducted by a team from the DEO and OCE showed that Magar had agreed to pay Karki Rs 20,000.

Magar had already provided Karki with Rs 10,000 for taking two exams of compulsory English and compulsory Nepali held last week, added Ranjit.
