Tendi Sherpa held at TIA with illegal gold



KATHMANDU, March 30: National Sports Council’s Vice-Chairman Lama Tendi Sherpa, who was returning from abroad, has been arrested from the Tribhuwan International Airport on charge of illegally possessing Gold.

Sherpa, who returned from Hong Kong boarding a Dragon Air flight, was held at the TIA last evening after it was found out that he was carrying 25 tola (291.59 gram) Gold without invoice.

The existing customs law allows an individual to carry or bring in only 50 gram of Gold or gold ornaments without declaring.

Lama is the president of Nepal Basket Ball Association, and deputy general-secretary of Nepal Olympic Committe.
