Dr KC’s health worsens

KATHMANDU, March 31: Health condition of Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a hunger strike since March 22, has deteriorated further. According to Dr Divya Singh Shah, “He had one episode of bradycardia (sudden drop in heart rate) which was later brought to control after medication.”

Dr Shah has also warned that recurrence of such condition can be life threatening. His oxygen saturation is low and is on oxygen support.

Electrolytes like calcium, potassium, magnesium and bicarbonate are low, said Dr Shah, adding that Dr KC is going through persistent headache, chest pain and muscle cramps. “Acetone is positive in his urine,” she said.

“We have prepared a parameter indicating at what situation Dr KC should be shifted to the ICU,” she further said. “Emergency life threatening situation may arise any time and he might need intensive care management.”
