Police‚ bandh enforcers clash in KTM



KATHMANDU, Apr 7: Some people have been injured as security personnel and bandh enforcers clashed at Bijuli Bazaar in the capital today.

SSP Narayan Singh Khadka, the spokesperson of Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, said some rounds of tear gas were fired to disperse the protestors and take situation under control as they tried to attack a police van.

UCPN-Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai, however, claimed that police fired bullets in the area and some protestors have received injuries on their head. Police, on the other hand, stated that bullets were not fired at all.

The Naya Baneshwar-based Metropolitan Police Circle said there was tension at Bijuli Bazaar area, and security personnel had used force.

“Only tear gas was used in Bijuli Bazaar, not bullets,” SSP Khadka maintained. According to him, seven policemen and one proetstor were injured in the incident at Bijuli Bazaar.
