Villagers raise Rs 3 million for trekking route in Myagdi

BENI, Apr 9: Locals of Shikh VDC, Paundwar of Myagdi district emerged a glaring example that community people if teamed up could do more for village development themselves without looking for any government support.

The local dwellers did the exemplary work by raising Rs 3 million from within the community and constructed a trekking route.

The villagers joined their hands to construct a three-kilometre trekking route in different places from Paundwar village to tourism and religious site Khopralek, said a teacher of Paundwar Secondary School, Bhim Bahadur Pun.

The construction of trekking route was possible with the fund of Rs 3 million received from the donation granted by 30 families of the village in memory of their departed relatives.

The donors have also constructed refreshing centres along the trekking route in memory of their departed relatives.

It has eased tourists trekking up to Khopra, said Khopra Community Lodge Management Committee Chairperson Rudra Bahadur Magar.

The generous donors said that they have handed over the assistance for the construction of trekking route by cutting off unnecessary expenses incurred in ritual activities.
