Polices, programmes and budget for upcoming fiscal year on time: FM Mahat



Kathmandu, April 21: Minister for Finance Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said that policies, programmes and the budget for the fiscal year 2072/73 would be development-oriented and based on social justice.

Speaking at the program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Tuesday, Minister Mahat said that the budget would be prepared focusing the education, infrastructure and energy sectors like in previous years.

Stating that preparation was underway to bring policies and programmes and the budget of the upcoming fiscal year on time, he expressed the belief that all activities would get momentum as the Constituent Assembly and the Parliament would be convened from April 23 while speaking the program presided by the Reporters’ Club Nepal’s president Rishi Dhamala.

The Finance Minister further said that the country’s economy has moved ahead in a positive way and stressed the need of paying attention to take the country towards the path of prosperity as support of all was necessary for the same.

Minister Mahat laid emphasis on expanding the competitive capacity by increasing production, saying there was a negative impact in the country’s economy due to the skewed export and import ratio.

He said, “An environment conducive for investment is built in the country. There should be improvement in politics to give continuity to it.”

On the same occasion, economic journalist Gajendra Budhathoki, Prahlad Rijal of the Aarthik Daily, Correspondent of ABC Television Ananda Gurung and Nakul Aryal of the Himalayan Times were honoured.
