US President says ready to support Nepal in relief and rehabilitation
Kathmandu, May 15: President of the United States of America, Barack Obama has send a message stating that the US government and the people were ready to provide necessary support for the relief and rehabilitation in the current disaster situation in Nepal.
The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Desai Biswal, conveyed this message in a meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala today.
According to Dr Dinesh Bhattarai, the Prime Minister’s foreign affairs advisor, during the meeting the US official informed the Prime Minister that the US was ready to offer assistance for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction remaining within Nepal’s priority in this distressing situation.
Biswal said the US would support Nepal based on its experience regarding how the future reconstruction could be made more resilient and wished Nepal success in this work.
During the meeting discussions were also held on the ongoing search for the US Marine helicopter which has gone missing for three days and the US official was briefed on all efforts being made for searching for the missing chopper.
US Ambassador to Nepal Peter W Bodde was also present during the meeting. RSS
