Fund to provide Rs 100,000 financial aid to families of three athletes



Kathmandu, June 8: The National Players’ Welfare Fund under the National Sports Council (NSC) is to provide financial assistance to the families of three athletes, who lost their lives in the ‘Gorkha’ quake.

The Fund would provide Rs 100,000 each to families of Karate player Shanti Thapa and Taekwondo players– Saurav Adhikari and Laxmimaya Ghale, said Fund Chairman and NSC Member-Secretary, Yubraj Lama.

Similarly, a financial assistance of Rs 20,000 would be provided to the 62 sports persons, whose houses were completely damaged by the quake, added Lama. The Fund has already provided Rs 100,000 financial aid to seven athletes, one sport journalist and a volleyball coach, who were killed in quake, and Rs 20,000 each to 14 payers, whose houses were destroyed by quake.
