Information Minister asks agitating parties to shun politics of violence

Butwal, Sept. 12: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal has said that the entire demands of the Madhes-centric parties were not accepted in the new constitution as this constitution was the document of compromise.

Addressing a programme organised by Buddha Community Television on its eight anniversary here today, Dr Rijal said that the concerns of dissenting political parties could be addressed through talks and urged the parties concerned to shun the path of violence.
Minister Rijal added that the agitating parties should put forth their demands through legitimate ways and stated that it was the government’s responsibility to bring them on right track.
Also speaking at the programme, politburo member of the UCPN (Maoist) Bamdev Chhetri said that media should contribute for societal development and social changes instead of making it a platform for engaging in politics.
Lawmaker and advisor of the Buddha Community Television Dr Krishna Bahadur Chhantyal said that the media should help maintain peaceful order in the society.
On the occasion, different personalities were feted for their contributions in separate fields. RSS
