Special worships offered at Jalabinayak



Kathmandu, Sept 17: A special religious fair is underway at Jalabinayak at Chovar in the southern belt of Kathmandu, today.

The religious fair is a customary one as such fair takes place here every year on the occasion of the Ganesha Chaturthi. It is believed that the Hindu god Ganesha was born on this day.

Devotees have been thronging the Jalabinayak Temple at Chovar since the morning today.

Although it is not known when the temple was constructed, the temple houses a big idol of Ganesha believed to be carved out of a single stone slab.

Hindus revere lord Ganesha as the god of good luck and knowledge. Ganesha is worshipped first in every ritual of the Hindus.

Similarly, special worships are also held at other temples dedicated to lord Ganesha in the Kathmandu Valley today. RSS
