33-party front delegation calls on PM Koirala



Kathmandu, Sept 17: A delegation led by Shobha Ram Thapa, chairman at the Rastriya Ekata Manch and coordinator of the 33-party front has called on Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at his official residence at Baluwatar today.

Issues related to ongoing constitution promulgation process, current political development and 33-party fronts’ demands were discussed in the meeting.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala said that he had made maximum efforts to have the participation of all political parties that were not in the Constituent Assembly (CA) and for the purpose, government had called an all-party assembly but unfortunately, they did not participate in the assembly.

Similarly, PM Koirala called for support from all sides as the constitution could be amended in line with the need and demand of the people and therefore it would address the aspiration of all.

Likewise, PM Koirala urged the 33-party front to use the opportunity to serve the people and contribute in developmental activities in the days ahead as all parties were getting chance to participate in local body, federal and the national election as per the provision of the constitution.

He further clarified that the government and his party Nepali Congress is active to maintain peace and political stability in the country therefore, dialogue with different disgruntled forces would be continued.

Meanwhile, emerging from the meeting, coordinator of the 33-party front Thapa told media persons that the front accepted the request of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and supported the constitution passed, with two-third majority, by the Constituent Assembly on Wednesday.

He said that they would initiate to get their demands met through peaceful protest after the promulgation of the constitution.

Similarly, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Mahesh Acharya said that he feels great to stand in favour of the constitution comprising aspiration of all political parties and that it would be easier to address long-held grievances of the people in favour of federalism, republic and inclusive democracy, through the constitution.

Minister for Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Peace and Reconstruction, Narahari Acharya asked those failing to take part directly in the constitution-writing process and in the Constituent Assembly, not to become sad, saying that voices of all people, cadres and leaders of political parties have raised in the process through a campaign to collect feedbacks of the people.

He urged all to take part in all political opportunities given by the constitution.

Minister Acharya also said that political party leaders should pay heed to the service of the people as their places in politics are dependent on the people. RSS
