Three injured in police firing in Biratnagar



Biratnagar, Sept 21: Three locals have sustained injuries when police opened fire to contain the agitating mob in Biratnagar today.

The injured are Ajaya Sahani, 24, Pinki Keshari, 20, and Bishal Keshari, 18 from Biratnagar, according to Pramod Kharel, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Sahani sustained injury in his left rib, Keshari under her right arm and Bishal Keshari in the cheek. The injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital, added DSP Kharel.

The agitating cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) had been demonstrating against the promulgation of a new Constitution of Nepal, 2072 since this morning at Mahabirchowk in the town.

Police earlier lobbed tear gas shells to take control over the mob. Police opened fire as the agitators turned violent after burning the tires, shared DSP Kharel. RSS
