Three major parties agree to address UDMF’s demands before Jan 19



Kathmandu, Jan 14: The three major political parties have reached to an agreement to address the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) within January 19.

The meeting of the major political parties—Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and UCPN (Maoist) held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar this morning drew the conclusion in this regard.

Leaders participated in the meeting said that the three parties agreed to make preparation for the written agreement in order to address the agitating UDMF’s demands before Parliament meeting scheduled on January 19.

After the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said, “The three parties today reached to an agreement for carrying out works in order to address the demands of the UDMF in a positive way in the next meeting of the taskforce as per the plan of accelerating the homework to take ongoing talks with it to the conclusion.”

Shrestha said that discussion would be held in taskforce meeting and top leaders’ meeting scheduled on January 15 and 16 respectively for addressing the UDMF’s demands before the meeting of the Parliament.

Similarly, Nepali Congress leader Mahesh Acharya said that they had reached to the conclusion to put different issues including constitution amendment, delineation of federal states, citizenship and inclusion in taskforce meeting in a positive way
