Preparations for local poll begin, says DPM Thapa
Dhangadhi, Feb 1: Deputy Prime Minister and Local Development Minister Kamal Thapa has said that the preliminary homework to conduct the election of local bodies has already begun.
Addressing the regional-level (far western) half yearly progress review meet of the fiscal year 2072-73 BS for the District Development Committees and Municipalities Monday, Thapa said the local body election will be hold soon. The country has already got the new constitution and onwards its focus should be on attaining economic progress and prosperity and same agenda should be the goals of development plans to be implemented by local bodies.
Sharing his views about the ongoing Madhes agitation, he said both ruling parties and oppositions are ready to address the Madhes voices politically and called on the agitating parties to seek a solution to the problems through the negotiations instead of prolonging the unrest.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Thapa said Prime Minister’ scheduled visit to India would not be cancelled.
Talking to media persons today at Geta Airport, Minister Thapa said hurdles seen in the transit and supplies systems along the border area except the Birgunj-Raxaul point have been cleared off.
